Malicious Wounding Arrest


On Saturday, September 08, 2012 at approximately 8:10PM, the Martinsburg Police Department responded to the 300 block of North Maple Ave for a stabbing.  While driving to the scene, Ptlm. Castelgrande saw a black male holding a white t-shirt to his chest in the area of Anthony’s Pizza at Queen and Race.  The male had a stab wound to his chest and was transported to City Hospital with non- life threatening injury.  The victim stated that Michael Robinson stabbed him and Officers responded to Robinson’s residence at 322 ½ North Maple Ave.  Ptlm. Richmond located Robinson as he ran out the back door of the residence.  A knife was also located in the back yard of the residence.  After Robinson was detained and Mirandized, he confessed to Ptlm. Shelton that he stabbed the victim after getting in an argument over a girl.  Robinson was charged with Malicious Wounding and is currently incarcerated in the Eastern Regional Jail awaiting his initial arraignment.

Drug Arrests Made



     On this day officers from this agency, along with officers from the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, conducted a search warrant at 125 North Queen St Apt 5.

     This search warrant stemmed from controlled drug buys, of crack cocaine, which these officers have been conducting at this residence.

     Upon entry Mr. Dontae C. Freeman (DOB 6/23/83) was present along with other individuals. They were detained by officers during the search warrant.

     Mr. Freeman advised this officer that he had marijuana in his left front pocket. Small baggies of packaged marijuana were located in his pocket.

     We had also previously obtained a felony warrant for Mr. Freeman for distribution of CDS (Crack Cocaine). He was arrested on the pending warrant and charged with possession with intent for the marijuana.

     Mr. Freeman was transported to the Martinsburg Police Dept and processed. He was then brought to the ERJ to await further court action.

     Also earlier on this date officers arrested Mr. Curtis “Kurt Kurt” W. Lane (DOB11/16/64) who is also living at this address on North Queen St. He was arrested on a domestic battery third offense.

   
      Curtis Lane was brought in front of Magistrate Miller for arraignment. He was placed on a $50,000 bond. He was unable to post bond and was transported to the ERJ to await further court action.

Subject shoots Gun in Home - Arrest

     On Sunday, 4-8-12 at approximately 2126 hrs, members of the Martinsburg Police Department responded to the 1400 blk of New York Ave in reference to a report of shots fired.  While officers were on the way to the call, information was updated that the suspect had entered a residence and discharged a firearm into the floor of the house.  Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect in a vehicle a few blocks from the scene.  Pfc D North along with Ptlm J Crites and Ptlm P Lehman were able to stop the vehicle and take the suspect into custody after a short struggle.  A search of the vehicle revealed a .45 caliber handgun secreted away with in the passenger compartment and several spent shell casings.  There were six persons within the house when the shooting took place.  No one was injured during the incident.
     The suspect was identified as: Justin Waynes Willingham, 20, of Bunker Hill, WV

         Charged with six counts of Wanton Endangerment,
         Burglary, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and
         Obstructing an Officer.

Search Warrants Served

     On February 16, 2012 officers from the Martinsburg Police Department conducted two search warrants at 120 and 122 West Burke St. Both residences are within the same building.

     Search warrants were conducted in reference to an ongoing drug investigation which had been conducted by this agency. Martinsburg SRT was utilized to make entry into both homes. This agency was aided by the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crimes Task force.

     A small amount of Marijuana was seized, along with some paraphernalia. Also seized was a small caliber pistol and a Tazer / stun gun device.

     Currently the Martinsburg Police Dept holds felony warrants for the following individuals, as a result of this investigation. These are for Drug related crimes, including distribution of Crack Cocaine;

Timico “TC” C. Johnson (DOB 3/11/70).
Tracy L. Clinton (DOB 7/5/66)
Aubrey A. Wright (4/15/81)

Attempted Robbery

     On December 27, 2011 call was received for an attempted robbery, which had just occurred at 531 Winchester Ave. This business is the Mercado Le Bueno Fe # 2 International Food Market. Officers responded.

Ptlm Everhart took statements from employees that a white male had entered the business and demanded money. He had his face partially concealed. His hands were in his pockets and he motioned that he may have a weapon on his person, by pointing his pocketed hand at the clerk.

According to the clerk, the subject then pulled a large knife out of his jacket pocket and attempted to grab the clerk. At this time another employee came out from the back of the store. The suspect fled the store, traveling on foot north of the Winchester Ave Plaza. He did not obtain any money or goods.

Drug and Fugitive Arrest

On Friday, December 23, 2011, at approximately 2151 hours, Ptlm. R.S. Fritz of the Martinsburg Police Department stopped 3 subjects in the area of John Street and Kentucky Ave that matched the description of suspects in an armed robbery that occurred in the 300 block of South Rosemont Ave.  The subjects were not involved in the robbery, but while conducting a pat down, Francisco Villansana-Escobedo admitted to having crack cocaine in his possession.  Francisco Villansana-Escobedo was found to be in possession of 2 baggies of suspected crack cocaine with a total weight of approximately 5 grams.  Francisco Villansana-Escobedo was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine.

        In addition, a second subject, Nelson Casiano Rivera, was arrested as a fugitive from justice.  Rivera initially gave Ptlm. Fritz a false name, but after finding out his real name, an NCIC hit confirmed that he was wanted out of York County PA for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.  Both subjects were transported to Eastern Regional Jail to await arraignment.

Vehicle Pursuit - Arrest

On Saturday, December 17, 2011, at approximately 1816 hours, Ptlm. Lehman of the Martinsburg PD attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving and eluding Police.  The vehicle fled from Ptlm. Lehman on State Circle and then west on Apple Harvest Drive.  At this point, the pursuit was terminated due to high traffic along Apple Harvest Drive.  Ptlm. Barrett located the suspect vehicle a short time later on Apple Harvest Drive in the area of Foxcroft Ave and attempted to stop the vehicle.  The vehicle fled again this time north on I-81.  Ptlm. Lehman and Sgt. Funkhouser then joined Ptlm. Barrett in an attempt to stop the vehicle.  The vehicle failed to stop and exited I-81 at exit 14.  The vehicle continued west on Dry Run Road and the involved Officers backed off the suspect but continued at a safe distance.  Upon approaching Thatcher Road, it appeared that the suspect vehicle turned onto Thatcher Road.  Sgt. Funkhouser later located the suspect “blacked out” behind a barn off Working Deer Drive.  The suspect again fled through a field and back onto Thatcher Road towards Dry Run Road.  The suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole in the back yard of 2008 Thatcher Road.  The suspect was taken into custody and transported to City Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released to the custody of Deputy Welcome of the BCSD.  The driver was charged with Fleeing DUI w/property damage and Fleeing Reckless.
