Martinsburg PD Press Releases: Drug / Prostitution Arrests

On Tuesday, November 4, 2008, Det. Lt. G.B. Swartwood, Det. S.F. Doyle, Ptlm. English and Ptlm. Luciano of the Martinsburg Police Department conducted two controlled purchases of narcotics utilizing a confidential informant. During the first purchase, the aforementioned officers arrested an individual after delivering marijuana to a confidential informant in the 500 block of North High Street. The subject was identified as Edward Jay Cole (DOB: 08/22/60) and was charged with Delivery of a controlled substance. During the second purchase of narcotics, a subject was arrested after delivering cocaine to a confidential informant in the 600 block of North High Street. The subject was identified as Richard L Carey (DOB: 10/07/67) and was charged with Delivery of a controlled substance.

On Thursday, November 6, 2008, the aforementioned officers conducted a controlled purchase of narcotics utilizing a confidential informant. During the purchase, the aforementioned officers arrested an individual after delivering heroin to a confidential informant in the 500 block of South Raleigh Street. The subject was identified as Thomas Murphy (DOB: 08/09/67) and was charged with Delivery of a controlled substance.

On Thursday, November 6, 2008, the aforementioned officers conducted an investigation into prostitution within the Martinsburg city limits. During the course of the investigation, 5 women were arrested for solicitation of prostitution. Arrested were Judy Rae Smith (DOB: 02/22/64), Trineka Steward (DOB: 10/07/76), Jennifer Carson (DOB: 10/27/81), Anna Rice (DOB: 03/02/60) and Tasha Schell (DOB: 03/28/81).
